Ask three suppliers for a spider crane price and you will get three numbers that are not comparable. One quotes a base machine without outrigger pads or a winch, another includes delivery to your port, a third prices a dual-power configuration. This guide explains what drives the cost of a spider crane in 2026, so you can compare quotations line by line.
Price by capacity class
Capacity is the biggest price driver, because boom sections, hydraulics and crawler chassis all scale with it. As a rough orientation for new factory-direct machines from China:
- Compact class (1.2-2 t) - entry machines for glass installation, indoor maintenance and landscaping; the most affordable segment.
- Mid class (3-5 t) - the volume segment for construction and steel work; our 4 t crawler spider crane with a 15 m boom is the most quoted model in this class, followed by the 3 t model for tighter sites.
- Heavy class (8-16 t) - industrial lifting, plant construction and precast work; prices roughly double per class step. See the 10 t heavy-duty model for reference specifications.
What else moves the price
- Power source. A diesel-only machine is the baseline; adding the electric motor for indoor zero-emission work (dual power) typically adds a mid single-digit percentage to the price and pays back quickly if you bill indoor jobs.
- Boom and winch options. Fly jibs, searcher hooks and winch kits are priced separately by most factories.
- Engine brand. Honda petrol engines on compact models and Yuchai/Yunnei diesels on larger ones are proven and keep spare-parts costs low; unknown-brand engines can be cheaper but complicate service.
- Certification. CE documentation, load-test reports and English manuals are included in serious quotations; if a quote is suspiciously cheap, check whether certification is excluded.
- Incoterms. EXW, FOB and CIF prices for the same machine differ by thousands of dollars. Always confirm which port and which cost items are covered.
How to get a quote you can actually compare
Send every supplier the same four numbers: maximum load weight, lift height, horizontal reach at that load, and power preference. Ask for the load curve of the quoted model, the FOB port, and a written list of included options. A quote that answers all four is comparable; one that does not is just a number. You can send us your four numbers through the contact form - we reply with a model recommendation, load chart and FOB Qingdao price within 24 hours.
